Fujian's border police busted a smuggling ring which sought to transport 27 Vietnamese to Taiwan on Dec 9.

The organizer, surnamed Li, confessed to police that he and a fellow started plotting the illegal activity in June. With the help of two men in Pingtan, he bought a fishing vessel in Fuqing county and planed to transfer his clients to Taiwan on Dec 9.
Their reckless attempt was known about from the very start by Fujian’s border police, who raided the operation red-handed on that day.
Li and his fellow conspirator were detained by the police. As organizers of the smuggling operation they face a sentence of up to 10 years under Chinese law.
