Guangdong province's new Meizhou-Dabu Highway, its third to connect it with neighboring Fujian province, is expected to open to traffic by the end of December.

Construction work on the 61-kilometer highway began in August 2010, and finished its first phase in December of last year, with the final phase planned for completion by the end of this December.

The Highway runs from the city of Meizhou, Guangdong to Sanhe, where it connects with the Yongchun-Yongding Highway as an important north-south route. It will cut at least 30 minutes off travel time for people driving from Guangzhou, Guangdong's capital, to Longyan and Zhangzhou, Fujian province.
