Fuzhou Railway Station has rolled out a ticket-booking service for migrant workers for the chunyun, or Spring Festival travel period.
From Dec 26 to Jan 5, migrant workers, in groups of at least five members, can go to a designated place on the first floor of the railway station and submit their requests for tickets valid from Feb 4 to March 15.
They will get text messages once the tickets are approved and can pick them up at the railway station from Jan 10 to 14. The tickets will no longer be reserved after that.
Enterprises can also book tickets online for their migrant workers, said the railway station.
The Spring Festival travel spree, or simply chunyun, refers to the largest population migration lasting 40 days in China around the Spring Festival, the most important traditional festival in China. A total of 3.6 billion trips were made during the 2014 chunyun.
The 2015 chunyun starts from Feb 4 and ends on March 16.
