The 6th Cross-Straits Forum was inaugurated on June 14. The Forum’s main venue is set in Xiamen and related activities will be simultaneously launched in cities and districts of Fujian province as well as Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone.

The theme of the Cross-Straits Forum will be consistent with "more folk exchanges, more cross-Straits cooperation and joint development". Based on the key topics of "accord development and cross-strait wellbeing", 18 activities in four sectors were organized: namely, orientation activities, grass-roots exchange, cultural exchange and economic and trade exchange.

Features:

I. Innovative design in brand activities. Such folk exchange activities as a cross-Straits temple fair and "heart-to-heart exchange among villages with the same name" will be held to boost fellow villager and family ties.

II. More exchange activities and interaction among grassroots societies and youth groups. The cross-Straits exchanges of people's livelihoods are newly added, for the purposes of promoting wide-ranging participation and interaction of cross-Straits communities, social workers, together with society and youth leagues.

III. More emphasis on the substantial results of economic and trade cooperation. The cross-Straits common home forum, cross-Straits financial forum and development forum of Dongshan, Jinmen and Penghu islands will be held.

IV. Economical and pragmatic principle. The forum will streamline activities and highlight substantial results.
