The Taiwan pavilion at the 16th Cross-Strait Fair for Economy and Trade (CFET) opened in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, on May 18, with thousands of Taiwan foods on display.
According to Wang Ximeng, deputy secretary general of the Taiwan Trade Center, this year’s event attracted 121 enterprises from Taiwan and arranged for 350 booths.
The fair, themed around “traditional new flavor”, is displaying Taiwan’s local foods, including snacks, sources, gifts and souvenirs.
CFET has provided a great platform for Taiwan’s food industry to find business opportunities west of the Straits. In 2013, Taiwan’s food exports to mainland China reached $637 million, quadruple what it was five years ago, when it was only $153 million.
With its good reputation in food security, Taiwan food has become more popular in mainland China.
