Lang Lang, an internationally renowned Chinese pianist, will perform in Xiamen’s Banlam Grand Theater on May 4.

For Lang Lang, playing in Gulangyu will help him better present the charm of the piano, since Gulangyu is regarded as “the Island of Piano”.

Lang Lang will perform with ten young pianists this evening, something that is expected to be the highlight of the performance. These young performers excelled from more than 1000 of their peers who signed up for the selection process over the past two months.

During the press conference, he also shared his experience of learning the piano. “I took part in numerous competitions when I was a child. Winning was not the ultimate goal. Finding my weaknesses and getting to know many friends are more important for me,” he said.

During the rehearsal on May 3, Lang Lang talked with the children who cooperated with each other very well.
