Fujian will release stamps with a shipyard culture motif shortly after the 34th National Best Stamp Award Presentation event, held in the capital Fuzhou on April 20.
“The province is aiming to spread its shipyard culture across the country through the stamps,” said Song Xiaowen, deputy secretary-general of the Fujian Philatelic Association, adding that it is the third time the national event was held in Fuzhou, which is of great value in Fujian’s cultural brand building.
Song added that the stamps serve as a type of “National Card”, as in the series “Beautiful China” regular stamps officially released by China Post in 2013, which featured scenes from Fujian’s XiaPu tidal flats and Heping ancient towns.
“It is favorable to promoting the scenic spots’ popularity and reputation and boost local tourism,” he said, adding the stamps will not only strengthen people’s understanding of Fujian’s culture, but also help to boost Fujian’s economic development.
“Fujian’s landform scenery on stamps will play an important role in promoting, recommending and displaying Fujian province,” said Liu Hongwei, deputy secretary-general of Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and director of the General Office.
