Fujian's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 2.8 percent in January from the same period last year, and 0.8 percent above that of the previous month, Fujian Daily reported on Feb 16.
The statistics shows that urban CPI increased by 2. 9 percent and the figure rose 2.6 percent in rural areas, with food going up 3.6 percent; clothing increasing 4.6 percent; household appliance, 0.5 percent, medical care, one percent; transportation and communications, 0.1 percent; entertainment, 4.7 percent, housing, 3.4 percent, and liquor and tobacco, down 1.4 percent.
