A total of 94 contestants from different provinces and regions, including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, took part in the final of the 2013 “FLTRP Cup” English Public Speaking Contest, which was held in Beijing from Dec 8 to 13.

Liang Wei, a junior at the School of Humanity and Law of the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU), won first prize, and Cai Juntao, a sophomore at the School of Public Administration of the FAFU, came second.

The competition was first held in 1997 and is organized by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, the English Speaking Union and China English Language Education Association.

It is known for its outstanding competitors and balanced judging criteria, and is considered to be the most prestigious competition of its kind in China.
