Traffic
The three scenic areas of the park are easily reached by way of highways that lead from the park to all townships, towns and scenic areas and most natural villages in the area. Baishuiyang Scenic Area is 170 kilometers from Fuzhou, 100 kilometers from Ningde, 135 kilometers from Saiqi Harbor and 95 kilometers from Gutian Train Station. A Grade 2 highway from Ningde to Pingnan was open to traffic in 2005. It connects to the Tongsan (Tongjiang-Sanya) Expressway and significantly shortens the distance and travel time from neighboring areas to Pingnan. Construction will soon begin on the Yangyuan Interchange of Ningshao (Ningde-Shaowu) Expressway, which is about 10 kilometers form the park. Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area is 202 kilometers from Fuzhou and 37 kilometers from Ningde. The No 104 National Highway runs through Fuan. Two trunk highways directly reach Pucheng and Xiapu counties to the north of Fujian. They are the Fuwen (Fuzhou-Wenzhou) Expressway and Fuwen (Fuzhou-Wenzhou) High-Speed Railway. Saiqi Harbor east of Fujian has long been called “a golden waterway”. Its domestic lines access Fuzhou, Xiamen, Shanghai, Nantong, Wenzhou, Ningbo, Qingdao and Guangzhou. Taimu Mountain Scenic Area is near Bailin, Panxi, Qinyu and Xiamen in Fuding City and Yacheng Town of Xiapu County. It is 300 kilometers from Fuzhou to the south, 160 kilometers from Wenzhou to the north and 45 kilometers from downtown Fuding. Fuzhou and Wenzhou both have an airport. Wenzhou-Fuzhou Expressway and the Wuzhou-Fuzhou Railway, which is under construction, pass by the park and have an interchange or railway station at the foot of Taimu Mountain.
Land formations
The park is located in the continental marginal active zone of the western Pacific Ocean. Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area and Taimu Mountain Scenic Area boast land formations such as peak clusters, rock castles, rock walls, rock columns and rock eggs, and also deep canyons, a valley and cave. It is representative of granite landforms, and thus has special scientific significance and protective value as a place for the scientific research and observation of granite landform. Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area and Baishuiyang Scenic Area of the park also are home to volcanic land formations. The formations range from hardened lava, a rock castle, rock walls and rock columns to a deep canyon and cave. also have developed deep canyon, cave and other negative landforms. They together form a variety of distinctive volcanic landform landscapes. The Liuyang volcanic basin in the middle of the park has developed a series of volcanic structures and other spectacular geological land formations.
