A full-moon shaped cactus arrangement has won this year’s International Cacti and Thick Flesh Plants Beauty Competition. The arrangement was made up of 50 small cacti.

According to experts, cacti like growing in hot dry conditions. There are as many as 15,000 known varieties in the world.

The event, held in the Xi’an as part of the world horticulture expo on July 15, has received 1,000 cactuses in 80 varieties from 33 companies in China and foreign countries including Germany, Italy, Mexico and Japan.

Winners of five silver prizes and 10 bronze prizes were also selected.
