Abstract: Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the rule of law in social governance in China has continued to advance forward. Some provinces like Hunan launched the rule of law in social governance earlier than other parts. In recent years, the level of the rule of law in social governance in these provinces has significantly improved through effective measures such as continuously strengthening the overall strategic deployment, constantly refining the system of laws and regulations, enhancing the supply of legal public services, and comprehensively promoting the construction of the rule of law in both urban and rural areas. However, there are still some problems in the rule of law in social governance in China. For example, the government arrangements for the rule of law remain to be improved, the legal system needs to be perfected, the quality of legal public services need to be improved, the support of the construction of the rule of law is still weak, and the supporting policies for law-based social self-governance are insufficient. Relevant policy options are raised as follows. On the basis of summing up experience, we need to further improve the top-level deployment of the rule of law in social governance, accelerate the process of the rule of law in the administrative sectors relating to social governance, optimize the procedure of the rule of law operation in social governance, strengthen the supply of high-quality legal public services, enhance the cultivation of personnel for implementing the rule of law in social governance, consolidate technical support for the rule of law in social governance, and improve the coordination work of the rule of law in social governance, so as to build the social governance on a more solid law-based foundation.
