Abstract: The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) held in Shanghai in November 2018 is a major move for China to take the initiative in opening up its market to the world, which has played an important role in expanding China’s import market and releasing the potential of domestic consumption. In order to enhance the spillover effect of the expo after its closing, it is urgently necessary to explore the possibilities about establishing an effective mechanism for the long-term import commodity trading and circulation. The survey findings made by the research team show that it is an active practice for Jiaxing city to build an import commodity center in Pinghu, a county-level city in Zhejiang province. Jiaxing city is striving to build a carrier that can effectively generate the spillover effect of the expo, so that more international commodities can be pooled in Pinghu city and then circulated and distributed to the Yangtze River Delta and the rest of the country, forming a new mechanism based on CIIE to divert international commodity resources to various local areas. It is advisable for related government departments to pay close attention to and carefully study this effective approach, introduce relevant policies and take multiple measures to support such carriers to enhance their comprehensive strength, so as to further advance the progress of future of CIIEs.
