The 2016 Silk Road Forum was held in Warsaw, Poland from June 20 to 21. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Polish President Andrzej Duda attended the opening ceremony and delivered keynote speeches.
More than 400 delegates from 33 countries, 13 international organizations, three multilateral development institutions, 34 think tanks, and over 100 enterprises took part in the forum, where officials from the Chinese government and industry and other speakers shared their views on the development of the new Silk Road.
DRC President Li Wei addressed the forum’s opening ceremony, and Vice-President Zhang Junkuo spoke at its conclusion.
The delegations discussed issues related to major international roads and other infrastructure construction, new investment and financing mechanisms, and sharing of prosperity and sustainable development through win-win relationships. They also have in-depth communications on multilateral financial cooperation.
The forum was organized by the Development and Research Center of the State Council (DRC), the Center for International Relations and Sustainable Development (CIRSD), the Poland Information and Foreign investment Bureau, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Chinese Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the China Development Research Foundation (CDRF), and the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC).
