Mr. Cai Esheng, born in Hubei Province in 1951 and grew up in Beijing, obtains a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Shanxi University of Finance and Economics. Mr. Cai joined People’s Bank of China (PBC) in 1975, and served as Assistant to Governor from 1998, and Assistant to Governor, and Governor of PBC Shanghai Branch from 2000, then he acted as Chairman of the Supervisory Board for China Everbright Group and Citic Group Corporation from May 2001, and served as Vice Chairman of China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) from 2005. He was elected as member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in 2013. Mr. Cai is currently Chairman of South-South Steering Committee for Sustainable Development Asia Pacific Committee and South-South Asia Pacific Finance Center, and Executive Director of China Society for Finance and Banking. Mr. Cai has led and engaged in several major projects related to the reform and development of financial institutions, handling of major banking cases and consolidation of the trust industry in People’s Bank of China (PBC) and China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC).
