Ba Shusong, vice-director-general of the Research Institute of Finance of the Development Research Center of the State Council, has been nominated as the most influential economist of the year by the netease.com, a top Chinese website.
Ba, born in 1969, is a research fellow and a PhD mentor. He focuses on financial institution management and financial market supervision.
Ba is the chief economist of the China Banking Association and a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Government Youth Federation in the People's Republic of China. As an expert, he receives a special subsidy from the central government.
Since August 2003, Ba has been acting as the DRC's vice-director-general of the Research Institute of Finance. From April, 2007 to March, 2009, he served as the vice-director-general of the Economic Affairs Department in the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong SAR.
Ba holds a PhD in economics and was a post-PhD graduate of Peking University.
