The China Development Research Foundation, initiated by the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), was registered and established in November 1997. It is a nonprofit incorporated organization and a national public foundation. The foundation has the support from the State Council and other civil affairs departments and organizations.
The foundation aims to support China’s development policy research in order to improve the decision-making process in a scientific and democratic way.
Donations mainly come from domestic and international companies, organizations and individuals. The funds are used on development-related studies, academic forums, personnel, and international communication and exchanges.
The foundation provides rewards for those who contribute to policy consultations and academic researches. It finances public and nonprofit activities in line with its goals and principles.
With contributions from all walks of life and under the leadership of the DRC, the foundation endeavors to fulfill its responsibilities and enhance its capabilities to contribute to China’s economic development and the construction of a well-off society.
Xue Muqiao and Ma Hong are honorary chairmen of the foundation.
