The key responsibility of the Institute of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) is to undertake research on Hong Kong and Macao issues for the prosperity and stability of these two special administrative regions. The study adheres to the Hong Kong basic law and Macao basic law and is based on trend developments and changes in the two regions.
The institute’s main research covers issues such as politics, economics, society, culture and religion in the Hong Kong and Macao regions. It organizes and participates in related seminars, lectures, and domestic and international academic conferences; compiles and publishes research journals in Chinese; and launches academic cooperation and communication with overseas research organizations in the two regions and other parts of the world.
