Founded in July 1989, the Euro-Asian Social Development Research Institute is one of the research institutes working on international issues in the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC).
It undertakes follow-up analysis and research on political, economic and social developments as well as external political and economic relations of countries in the Euro-Asian region. It also focuses on interactions between the development of these regions and the development of global politics and economics.
The institute works to provide information, advice and policy recommendations to the government, promoting China's relations with the Euro-Asian region and contributing to China's economic growth and social development.
In an effort to promote academic research and exchange, the institute frequently sponsors seminars on various topics and holds large-scale annual academic conferences. The institute invites famous Chinese and foreign scholars to give lectures. It also sends its researchers to participate in academic meetings both at home and abroad. The institute has established extensive academic exchanges and cooperative relations with other research institutions in Euro-Asian regions.
