On May 29 and 30, The Sino-French Roundtable "To Enhance Mutual Understanding and Promote Sino-French Cooperation" co-organized by China International Association for Urban and Rural Development (CIAD)and Victor Segalen Foundation of France was held in Beijing. DRC President Li Wei, Mr. Valery Giscard d’Estaing, President of Victor Segalen Foundation and former President of France and Mme. Sylvie Bermann, French Ambassador to China, addressed the opening ceremony. Mr. Sun Xiaoyu, Member of CPPCC Standing Committee, former Vice President of DRC, and President of CIAD, delivered concluding remarks at the seminar. Mme. Sun Lanlan, Director General of International Cooperation Department, and Mr. Ding Ningning, Senior Research Fellow of Research Dept. of Social Development, attended the seminar as chairpersons or speakers. A number of business executives and scholars also delivered speeches. Among the Chinese participants at the roundtable were officials and experts from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Foreign Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal Government, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Peking University, as well as the relevant experts from DRC. Around 30 delegates from French business and academic circles attended the meeting. The roundtable had extended and in-depth discussions on the change of country images and communication history between China and France, the establishment of country image and major effecting factors, how to improve the Sino-France country images.
