The Sino-French Roundtable “Changing Countryside of China” is held in Kunming

On June 9th and 10th, The Sino-French Roundtable “Changing Countryside of China” co-organized by the Research Dept. of Rural Economy of DRC and Victor Segalen Foundation of France was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province. DRC Vice President Mr. Han Jun, Mr. Valery Giscard d’Estaing, President of Victor Segalen Foundation and former President of France and Mr.Wang Xuezhi, Vice Chairman of Yunnan People’s Political Consultative Conference addressed the opening ceremony. Mr. Sun Xiaoyu, Member of Standing Committee of 11th CPPCCm, former Vice President of DRC, and President of China International Association for Urban and Rural Development (CIAD), delivered concluding remarks at the seminar. Mme. Sun Lanlan, Director General of International Cooperation Department, Mr. Xu Xiaoqing, Director General of Research Dept. of Rural Economy, Mr. Ding Ningning, Senior Research Fellow of Research Dept. of Social Development and Mr. Liu Shouying, Deputy Director General of the Research Dept. of Rural Economy of DRC attended the seminar as chairpersons or speakers. Experts from the Research Office of the State Council, The Office of CPC leading Group on Rural Affairs, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and relevant officials, experts and entrepreneurs from Yunan Province also participate in the meeting. Around 30 French delegates headed by Mr. Valery Giscard d’Estaing attended the meeting. The roundtable had extended and in-depth discussions on the subjects like transitions of the countryside, development and people’s wellbeing, as well as policies and environment.
