28th China-Japan Forum on Exchange of Economic Knowledge is held in Hefei

The 28th Annual Meeting of China-Japan Forum on Exchange of Economic Knowledge, co-hosted by DRC and Anhui Provincial Government, was successfully held in Hefei City on June 17-19, 2008. Mr. Zhang Yutai, President of DRC and the Chief Chinese Representative, chaired the opening ceremony and delivered concluding remarks. Three distinguished guests addressed the opening ceremony: Mr. Wang Sanyun, Governor of Anhui Province, Mr. Wang Mengkui, the former Chief Chinese representative, and Mr. Fukukawa Shinji, the Chief Japanese representative. Among those participants from China included senior officials and experts from relevant government departments and research institutions, such as the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, People's Bank of China, as well as Anhui Provincial Government, China Minmetals Corporation, and some famous local foreign trade enterprises. Japanese participants included Mr. Miyazaki Isamu, the former head of the Economic Planning Agency, Mr. Sato Yoshiyasu, former Ambassador to China, and representatives from famous Japanese enterprises, such as Hitachi, Komatsu, Tokyo Marine and Fire Insurance Company Ltd.( Tokio Kaijo Kasai Hoken Kwaisha), Mizuho Corporate Bank, etc. Proposed by Mr. Deng Xiaoping, China-Japan Forum on Exchange of Economic Knowledge was initiated by then the Chinese Vice Premier Mr. GU Mu and former Japanese Foreign Minister Mr. OKita Saburo in 1981 as a regular mechanism for dialogue between China and Japan. In the last 28 years, senior Chinese and Japanese officials and business leaders have convened annually to exchange ideas and share experiences. Many valuable views and policy proposals produced from the forum have contributed actively to the promotion of Sino-Japanese friendship and economic cooperation.
