The Round Table Conference on the subject of “Cultural Heritage Protection in Economic and Social Development” was jointly held by DRC’s Research Department of Social Development and Foundation Victor Segalen of France in Wuzhen of Zhejiang Province from April 12 to 13. About 100 Delegates from China and France had discussions on topics of Harmonious Society, National Characters and Globalization, Protection of Cultural Heritage, Social and Environmental Responsibilities. Mr. Xu Kuangdi, President of Chinese Academy of Engineering and former Vice Chairman of CPPCC, addressed the conference and delivered keynote speech on the topic of cultural heritage protection. Former French President Giscard D’Estaing and DRC Vice President Li Jiange hosted the opening ceremony and made concluding remarks. Among those who joined the discussions were Director General Ding Ningning, Deputy Director General Lin Jiabin and Dr. Su Yang from DRC's Research Department of Social Development; Director General Sun Lanlan and Deputy Director General Lan Weiban from DRC's International Cooperation Department, the officials and prestigious scholars from China's Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Cultural Heritage, State Administration of Tourism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Tongji University, China Academy of Art, as well as the local officials from Wuzhen, Tongxiang and Jiaxing.
