The Dehong International Water-Splashing Festival will be held from April 11 to 13, 2011. The organizing committee is now seeking ideas from the common people for the title, theme and specific activities of the festival. Various organizations from within China and abroad are invited to contribute their ideas to the festival.

The title needs to be concise while strongly inspiring and vigorous.

The theme should reflect the unique features of Dehong, including its ethnic characteristics, the progress it’s made, and its ongoing development. It should contain deep meaning while easy to spread.

The ideas for activities need to include both the name and form of the activity. It’s best to combine ethnic culture and modern culture, and to integrate festivities into the general tourism business. Be specific and realistic.

Participants can choose any one, two or three of the categories.

Those who would like to participate can download the relevant application forms on http://www.dehong.gov.cn/. Fill out the forms and send them to the organizing committee via letter, FAX, or email, and make sure to include your name, address and telephone number. The deadline for the application is Oct 15, 2010. All rights are reserved to the organizing committee, who maintains the right to modify or condense the works received.

Experts and committee members will evaluate the ideas and send out certificates and incentive compensation to the winners. There will be three first-prize winners, one for each category, and nine winners of honorable mentions, three for each category. The award for first prize is RMB 5,000, and RMB 500 for the honorable mention.
