A 3D IMAX screen of 19 m wide and 12 m tall was set up in Xi’an Daming Palace National Heritage Park on Sept 13, marking the first 3D IMAX (Image Maximum) cinema staged in northwest China.
The whole cinema, covering an area of 2,000 m2, can hold 576 seats. There are 288 seats in the IMAX hall. IMAX, which is able to display images of far greater size than traditional ones, brings to the audiences a broader view, clearer images, and a more authentic sound effect.
The first 3D IMAX film that will be put on in the cinema is “Legend of the Daming Palace” before Oct 1, when is dated for the official opening of the Xi’an Daming Palace National Heritage Park. The film, directed by Jie Tiemu, tells a love story imagined from a wall painting in the reign of Wu Zetian (the only empress in the history of China), Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).
