A month-long campaign is being held around the country to celebrate the Constitution Day on Dec 4, according to a notice of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Justice and the National Popularization of Legal Knowledge Office.

From late November to mid-December, a string of activities will take place on the theme of "promoting the Constitutional spirit and boosting innovative, open, ecological and harmonious development".

The activities will focus on the popularization of the Constitution and China's legal system to boost public knowledge of the Constitution and raise awareness of doing things in accordance with the law.

The activities include TV broadcasts of top officials of legal affairs telling relevant stories, a legal knowledge contest, and an evaluation of law-related WeChat accounts in terms of their influence.

According to the notice, meetings and seminars should be held to strengthen knowledge of the Constitution among civil servants. Apart from asking schools to promote learning about the Constitution, the notice has required media groups to carry out publicity campaigns on TVs, computers, mobiles and LED screens in public areas.

All the cities, departments and industries should carry out their distinctive activities. In addition, volunteers will be invited to give lectures in towns and villages in the hope of spreading awareness of the Constitution widely.

The campaign should cater to people's legal demands and encourage public participation to avoid formalism.

China's top legislature adopted the Constitution on Dec 4, 1982 based on a previous version enacted in 1954.

The day is meant to enhance social awareness of the Constitution, promote its spirit, and strengthen its implementation.
