Bicycle fans' fitness festival final kicks off in Wenjiang

The final of the Ninth Tianfu Bicycle Fans' Fitness Festival kicked off at Tianfu Greenway, Wenjiang district of Chengdu on Nov 24. More than 2,000 amateur riders and over 500 athletes from open groups participateded in the race.

A nationwide amateur cycling race, Tianfu Bicycle Fans' Fitness Festival made its debut in 2010. Since then it has hosted between three and four events between March and November of each year.

After nine years of exploration and development, it has become an important arena for cycling enthusiasts and a big regional bicycle event, absorbing more than 300,000 riders across 33 events.

To form a green space system linking the outside greenway and the whole city, Wenjiang built a city-level greenway with a total length of 698 kilometers, a slow-moving system in the southern part of the city and a comprehensive greenway system in Beilin area.

As a green economic belt connecting the development of urban and rural areas, such construction promotes the unified flow between urban and rural, with populations gathering along the greenway.

Through constantly working on improving public facilities for tourism, leisure and sports, Wenjiang has introduced running organizations and outdoor camps, carrying out orienteering, tai chi and marathon events.
