Chengdu takes BRI as an opportunity to cooperate with Europe

At the China-Germany economic cooperation dialogue, held on Nov 19 in Frankfurt, Germany, Chengdu successfully promoted its industry development and sought further cooperation with Europe.
A representative of the Chengdu government started with the medical and health industry, and then introduced the city's achievements in urban construction, commercial real estate economy, service trade and other areas.

Relying on the advantages of medical science, technology, health care and consumption indicators, Chengdu is striving to become a hub for the health industry that can absorb the integration and application trends of various industries.
Taking the dialogue as an opportunity, Chengdu wishes to attract more significant universities, innovation platforms, scientific research institutions and companies from Germany to establish health and medicine R&D centers, branch organizations or headquarters there.

Adriana Lao, representative of PM-International, a family-run company known for its health care products, said that the company has a long history of cooperating with Chengdu, while its plans for creating a big health industry showed her the possibility of further cooperation.
Organizations, governments, associations and companies from different districts of Chengdu attended the dialogue and actively exchanged with other attendees.
As one of the hubs in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Chengdu has 112 air routes to connect the city with the world. It was selected as one of the world's top 17 tourist destinations by the World Tourism Organization, and had an economic aggregate of 1.39 trillion yuan ($200 billion) in 2017.
