2018 Wenjiang Half Marathon kicks off

The 2018 Wenjiang Half Marathon was held in Wenjiang district, Chengdu on Nov 18, marking the fifth time that Wenjiang has held the half marathon. Around 10,000 runners from all over the world participated in the competition.
The half marathon started from Nanxun Avenue station of subway line 4 and ended in the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE). the subway was available from both the start and the end of the half marathon route.

This year, Wenjiang upgraded the half marathon and added the view of Beilin greenway and wetland to allow the runners to get closer to nature and make full use of the greenway in the urban area.
Beilin greenway is part of Tianfu greenway and meets the standards of international marathon and international bicycle races. The greenway connects the gardens, characteristic towns, new communities, agricultural parks and other scenic spots across a 160 square kilometer area of north Wenjiang.

Benard Matayian Kerenge from Kenya won the men's half marathon championship with a record of 1 hour, 7 minutes and 31 seconds. Everline Jepchirchir Kosgei from Ethiopia won the women's half marathon championship with a record of 1 hour, 22 minutes and 48 seconds.
The design of the half marathon medal was inspired by the image of Yufu, an ancient country which was located in Wenjiang 4,000 years ago.
