Wenjiang promotes lifelong learning

The launch ceremony for the 2018 Lifelong Learning Activity Week was held in Jinma town, Chengdu's Wenjiang district, on Oct 30.

The activity aims to promote the idea of lifelong education and encourage more people to participate in lifelong learning.

At the launch ceremony, Guo Yousheng, secretary of the Party Committee of Jinma town, said that Jinma town, located in the core hinterland of Chengdu Medical City, is welcoming historical development opportunities. More than 10 medical projects and 11 basic projects have been established in the town, and more than 20 additional projects will be launched, benefiting 32 groups in six communities.

Guo also revealed that after its opening, the Wenjiang Station of the Chengdu-Pujiang Railway would seamlessly connect with the Chengdu-Wenjiang-Qionglai Expressway, Qishi Avenue, Wentian Avenue and the currently under-construction Metro Line 4, which would help the surrounding areas accelerate the formation of commercial aggregations.

Jinma would become a cross-border industrial complex featuring a high-speed rail business district, three medical business districts, a booming sports industry, and a waterfront-style town.

Guo pointed out that the event would be taken as an opportunity to help communities improve governance, guide residents to develop lifelong learning habits, make reading enjoyable, and continuously improve education, innovation and development.

Guo added that it would promote lifelong learning as an important starting point for the construction of a study-oriented city, and strive to create a suitable atmosphere for lifelong learning.

During the event, the organizers commended ten learning family representatives and ten learning community representatives in Wenjiang who have been model lifelong learners.

Meanwhile, a joint headquarters for the Wenjiang International Student Experience Center and the Campus Community was officially unveiled during the event.
