Wenjiang holds micro-bonsai competition

A micro-bonsai competition was held at Shou'an Baihua Garden in Chengdu's Wenjiang district on Oct 26.
During the competition, more than 30 contestants spent one hour crafting their micro-bonsai. Afterwards, they presented visitors with fine works integrating handicraft art with flowers and trees.
Five bonsai masters scored the contestants and selected the winners of the competition, including one first place prize, two second place prizes, and three third place prizes.

There were over 1,000 bonsai works on display, which were provided by villages and communities throughout Shou'an town, including Minjiang village, Tuanjieqiao community, Tianxing village, and Baihua community.
Shou'an town is a famous historical and cultural town in Chengdu. It is the birthplace of Sichuan-style bonsai and is known as the "hometown of flowers and trees".
There are 50,000 mu of flowers and trees in the town, covering 99.5 percent of its total area.

Visitors with a voting certificate were able to vote for their favorite works. The five most popular micro-bonsai pots will be selected based on the number of votes they receive.
The competition aims to promote the spirit of Shou'an artisans, provide a large number of high-quality personnel, train new leaders for the micro-bonsai industry, and promote the upgrading and transformation of the flower and tree industry in the district.
The event helped participants enhance their micro-bonsai art skills, cultivated leaders for the local micro-bonsai industry, and improved the public's interest in micro-bonsai.
It also taught people about Shou'an micro-bonsai, increased the popularity of micro-bonsai, and developed new sales channels for micro-bonsai.
