The 2018 Europe-Chengdu Food Culture Festival has wrapped up after making a whistle-stop tour of Central and Western Europe from Oct 18 to Oct 24.
Starting in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, the festival then moved to Linz and Vienna in Austria, before finally ending in Brussels, Belgium, the home of the European Union (EU) and several major UN organizations.
During the festival, company representatives of Sichuan-style food brought samples of seasonings, processed products, creative cuisines and snacks to city locals.

In addition to food, Sichuan embroidery, opera, panda-themed art and more iconic examples of Chengdu culture were on display for festival visitors.
Chengdu has a long history of cooperation with Belgium. It established a twin city relationship with Mechelen city and the province of Flemish Brabant in 1993 and 2011 respectively. The city has also worked with several Sino-Belgium economic and trade cooperation organizations, education research centers and medical research centers during recent years.

With the opening of the China Railway Express, Chengdu became a joint partner in the international logistics channel that connects China with Europe. In 2017, the total value of the import and export of goods traded between Chengdu and Europe reached 74.2 billion yuan ($10.7 billion), with an increase of 59.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
The festival provided an international platform for Chengdu to strengthen its cooperation with Europe and seek more business opportunities.
In the future, advanced companies in Chengdu will cooperate with Austrian and Belgian companies in economy, trade and industry to achieve win-win development during the age of globalization.
