Wenjiang square dancers win first prize in Sichuan

A public square dancing show was held in Guang'an, Sichuan province on October 10, with the Wenjiang square dance team winning the first prize out of over 30 teams from all over the province.

Thirty-eight dance teams made up of more than 1,300 people from 21 cities participated. Various types of square dancing brought a wonderful cultural experience to the public, offering keynotes of unity, effort and peacefulness.

The show staged by the Wenjiang square dance team was a newly choreographed square dance, original and with a strong local style.

The show drew from performing feats of an intangible cultural heritage project and expressed the ideas of inheritance, improvement, innovation, and development through its choreography.

Surrounded by a lively and bright rhythm, spectators could easily observe the energy of the citizens of Wenjiang in their smiling faces, and imagine a homeland full of sincere happiness.
