Wenjiang holds ceremony for the 6th Wang Guangqi Award

The Wang Guangqi Literary Prize ceremony was held in Wenjiang district, Chengdu on Sept 29. Thirty-one works in seven different categories won the award.
The award was established in 2008 and named after the famous musician Wang Guangqi, who was born in Wenjiang in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and founded Chinese and Western comparative musicology.
As the most prestigious award in Wenjiang, the Wang Guangqi Award is given out every two years and has extensive social influence on the creation of literary works.

This year, 148 works from 99 authors applied for the award, an increase of 60 percent over the previous award. Most of the works revolve around the achievements of Wenjiang over the past 40 years.
Recitals, singing, traditional folk art, dancing and instrumental performances during the ceremony further showcased the art of Wenjiang.
In the future, Wenjiang will continue to promote the core competitiveness of culture and turn the Wang Guangqi Award into a regional cultural brand with more and more participants.
