Wenjiang holds first community singing competition

Organized by the Wenjiang District Committee of Social Affairs, Wenjiang District Federation of Trade Unions, and other departments of Wenjiang, the final round of the first community singing competition was held at Ziwei Garden Square in Hesheng town on Sept 13.

Every community song is completely original, reflecting the history, culture, and landscapes of communities, as well as residents' yearning for a better life. Singers from Shou'an town, Minjiang village won the first place prize.

The singing competition was launched this March. It took half a year to hold three auditions in 101 villages (communities) of Wenjiang district. The singing competition mobilized residents of many communities, encouraging them to express their admiration for life and their harmonious and livable communities.

The organizer launched online voting for the songs. Three songs from Tuqiao village, Baihua community and Yongshengchang community won the Favorite Wenjiang Community Song Award.

In March, the Wenjiang District Committee of Social Affairs formulated "eight elements for communities" based on the characteristics of the district's 116 villages and communities, including management measures, community logos, community songs, social groups, demonstration buildings, and citizen centers.

"The eight elements will give full play to Wenjiang's advantages and promote the construction of communities," said an employee of the Wenjiang District Committee of Social Affairs.
