The children of Huimin community in Wenjiang district gather every weekend for a calligraphy class taught by Peng Zemin, a retired art teacher.
The class has been in session for 12 years and accepts both children and adults. Peng charges only 10.5 yuan ($1.5) in material fees per session.
To enrich the cultural life of residents, Huimin community started a holiday calligraphy class in 2005, giving Peng an opportunity to return to his former profession.

Restricted by limited office area in the community, Peng moved the class to the living room of his home in 2006.
With self-made chairs, desks and blackboard, Peng usually teaches calligraphy every Saturday and Sunday morning, and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning during summer vacation.
According to the Wenjiang cares for the next generation working committee, over 900 of Peng's students have won domestic and international calligraphy competitions, including ones he volunteered to teach.
Peng said no man is too old to learn, and he will keep offering calligraphy classes for community children until his dying breath.
