The third Wenjiang International Rose Festival opened in the Wenjiang district’s Rose de Mai on April 21.
Representatives from Delbard Nursery, renowned French rose specialist, Jing Renzhi, deputy director of Wenjiang district, and hundreds of guests attended the opening ceremony.
The Sichuan Symphony Orchestra also performed a special concert featuring classical and romantic rose-themed music for guests in attendance. Rose de Mai, rated as a municipal flower base in 2015, receives tens of thousands of visitors per year. Located in Yongning town, the flower base covers an area of about 100 acres (40.47 hectares), and has more than 1,500 varieties of roses.
The base is also home to a collection of the world's most precious and endangered rose species. Rose de Mai is a perfect blend of Chinese pastoral culture and the French countryside, providing visitors with a charming and enjoyable recreational environment.
