Chengdu opens China-UAE summit

Primarily hosted by the Sichuan provincial government, Chengdu’s Wenjiang district staged the opening ceremony of the second China-UAE Economic Trade and Cultural Summit on April 1.
More than 300 government officials and business representatives attended the summit, which was aimed at strengthening ties and exchanges between China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Both sides discussed win-win cooperation in trade, culture and innovation.
“UAE welcomes Chinese business investment, and will create a good social environment for Chinese in our country,” said Mohammed AlShehhi, vice-minister of UAE’s economic ministry.
Vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Qiao Wei also claimed that the One Belt, One Road Initiative had opened up new opportunities for bilateral development.
A business docking meeting was held during the summit. Local businessmen from 100 companies explained their work, and representatives of 80 companies from 30 foreign countries and regions that discussed various fields, including biological medicine, ecotourism, mechanical manufacturing.
The summit fosters overseas friendships for the Wenjiang people, who are quickly becoming involved in globalization. Chen Zhiyong, director of Wenjiang district, said the area will work to create a good ecological environment and a cooperative business atmosphere, providing good services for domestic and foreign enterprises.
