Housing nearly 400,000 rare and exotic insect samples from 40 countries around the world, the West China Insects Museum has the largest insect collection in Asia.
Many different varieties of butterflies are the highlight of the insect museum. The number of butterflies in its collection is three times of all the butterfly species found in Europe. More than 1,700 species of Chinese butterflies are on display in the museum, which account for 95 percent of all known butterfly species in China.
