The district has a comprehensive, modern transportation network that reaches Chengdu's central area in just 15 minutes, and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in 25 min. It houses 10 foreign consulates and more than 250 offices of the world's Top 500 companies within half an hour's journey of the urban core.
Highways
Four highways link the district to the Chengdu central urban area and it is only 6 km from the urban beltway, with many other highways reaching out to mid-sized to large cities inside and outside Sichuan province.
Railways
The ride from Wenjiang to the Chengdu central urban area is being shortened, thanks to subway Line 4 which will be in operation in 2015, and the Wenjiang section of the Chengdu-Pujiang inter-city railway which is under construction. Wenjiang is 13 km from Chengdu's West Railway Station, and 18 km from its North Railway Station, which can take people to cities across the country via the Baoji-Chengdu, Chengdu-Chongqing, and Chengdu-Kunming lines.
Air travel
Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is the biggest airport of its kind for central and western China and handles more than 30 million passenger trips annually. It has 71 routes to foreign countries and regions and can reach 105 cities across China (as of 2013), making it China's fourth most important airport after Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. A 17.4-km fast line linking Chengdu's new town and the airport loop line is in the planning to make travel from Wenjiang to the airport quicker and more convenient.
