Chengdu to build dedicated panda tourism resort

Chengdu hopes to take its reputation as the home of pandas to new heights with the construction of a 1.2 billion yuan panda-themed holiday resort.
The 50 hectare resort’s primary function will be to act as a panda conservation area and will double up as a tourism resort.
When completed, the resort will feature three functional areas, namely, an amusement square, hotel zone and themed business area.
The proposed development will cover the city’s Chenghua and Xindu districts, adjoining the panda base in the west, Shulong Road to the east, Poly project 198 to the north and Panda Avenue in the south.
