A high speed rail linking Chengdu and Chongqing, both in Southwest China, had its test run on Dec 16, Xinhua reported.
A bullet train started its 308-km journey from the East Chengdu Station at 9:00 am. The highest speed reached during the trip was 302 km/h. After stopping at all the 10 stations along the track, the train arrived in Chongqing at 11:30 am.
An official of Chengdu railway bureau explained that after the line’s official opening there will be non-stop trains, which will take about one hour and a half.
The railway stretches 185 km across Sichuan province and runs a further 123 km to Chongqing city. A total of 309 bridges and 38 tunnels have been built along the main line.
