'Youth and Environment' summer camp to be held in Wenjiang

A seven-day summer camp themed “Youth and Environment” will be held in Wenjiang district, an ecological demonstration area in Chengdu, Sichuan province, in mid-August.

About 300 young environmentalists, scholars and entrepreneurs from all across China will be invited to take part in the event.

There will be nature tours, lectures on environmental protection and group activities to encourage exchange of views and help raise public awareness for environmental protection.

The summer camp is initiated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. Wenjiang was selected to host the camp as a model for creating harmony between people and the environment.

Wenjiang has set up an organizing group, led by Zhao Yigui, vice-governor of the district, to prepare for the camp.
