Wenjiang Community Culture Festival opens

The opening ceremony of the 6th Wenjiang Community Culture Festival was held on Yongsheng Square in Wenjiang, Chengdu, Sichuan province on April 23, lifting the curtain to unveil a colorful month full of cultural activities.

The community culture festival includes a folk customs and culture exhibition, poetry reading contest, singing contest, cooking competition, film showings and interactive traditional folk games such as rolling hoop and spinning top.

Since April 23 was also the World Book Day a series of reading-themed activities are also organized by the Wenjiang government. Wenjiang residents will be able to attend some reading parties to share their feelings about reading and recommend their favorite books. Also, supported by bookstores in Wenjiang, a book sale will be held to encourage people to read more.

The festival, organized by Wenjiang’s publicity department, the bureau of culture, press and publication, and the district’s news center, will close the curtains in the end of May.
