The western segment of the Chengdu 2nd Belt Expressway will be open to traffic on March 6, according to Wenjiang’s department of transportation.
This part of the expressway runs through Wenjiang district in Chengdu, Sichuan province. Upon its opening, residents living in the district can drive to the expressway through their nearby exit and entry access roads, making it more convenient for them to access to the city center of Chengdu.
The western segment of the new belt expressway is 114 kilometers long, passing through eight districts and counties in or nearby the city of Chengdu. The total investments in the project have so far exceeded 13.3 billion yuan ($2.1 billion).
