Chengdu’s medical insurance recently started to cover a part of treatment cost for two kinds of cancer in an effort to help with patients’ financial burden, xinhuanet.com reported.
Chengdu Human Resources Bureau issued an announcement on Feb 27, saying that the medical insurance will cover 75 percent of the expenses for medicine against chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Each insured patient will receive a support of up to 60,000 yuan ($9,540) per year.
In order to avoid insurance fraud, the authority enhances supervision and management by appointing diagnosis and treatment institutions as well as introducing real-name registration system for insured patients.
