Antti Rinne, Finland's Minister of Finance, led a delegation to visit Chengdu in Sichuan province on Jan 14. Chengdu Party Committee Secretary Huang Xinchu received the guests.
The communication between Finland and the city of Chengdu has become frequent in recent years. In order to further promote cooperation, Huang raised three expectations at the meeting:
First, enhance investment cooperation in emerging industries such as information technology, energy conservation and environmental protection. Second, further cooperate in tourism and cultural industries. Third, open direct flights between Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and Chengdu.
Rinne commented favorably on Huang's ideas on further cooperation. He said he would encourage more Finnish enterprises to invest in Chengdu and also welcomed the Chengdu counterparts to seek cooperative opportunities in Finland.
Also present at the meeting were Jari Gustafsson, Finnish Ambassador to China, Ma Hui, director of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, and officials of Chengdu's government.
