Officials' Forum: strictly implement new environment law

The Officials' Forum, a session of the China Ecological Civilization Forum Chengdu Annual Conference, took place on the afternoon of Nov 1. The Forum was co-hosted by Sichuan Provincial Environmental Protection Department and China Environment News.

The vice director of the Sichuan Environmental Protection Department, Peng Yong, and director of the Department of Policies, Laws and Regulations of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the PRC were present and shared their opinions on the revised Environmental Protection Law, and the rights and responsibilities of environment-related departments.

The newly-revised environmental law will soon be implemented. It will give more detailed stipulations on enforcement procedures, punishable offenses and methods for calculating fines.

Peng Yong said at the forum that the strict enforcement of the environmental law is essential to promote the construction of ecological civilization, improve the environment, and optimize economic and social development.
