On August 16, the 1st China Philanthropy Forum was held in Beijing Conference Center with the theme of "opening the era of philanthropy". To "share the creation of value", the main forum discussed the developing trends of global charity activities and the path of China's philanthropy in the context of all-round reforms.

On the forum, Xie Ruiwu, Vice Mayor of Chengdu People's Government and Chairman of the Chengdu Charity Foundation, was invited to give a lecture entitled "More efforts on the construction of a modern pattern of big philanthropy and a charitable city". Vice Mayor Xie Ruiwu pointed out that Chengdu had verified the orientation of "a charitable city" with the positive support of Chengdu Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government, setting the goals for improving the charitable ecological environment, increasing the urban charity index, revising charity-related laws and regulations and cultivating public welfare and charitable organizations. Thus, the mission of "filling Chengdu with love" will come true.

In recent years, Chengdu has made efforts to forge sunshine charity brands, thus facilitating the healthy development of public philanthropy. In the meantime, the involvement of the masses in charity activities is encouraged to create a good urban charitable atmosphere. Through unrelenting efforts, the "pattern of big philanthropy" is starting to take shape in Chengdu.

The "China Urban Public Charity Index" is acclaimed as "Urban Charity GDP". How high is Chengdu's "Urban Charity GDP"? At the ceremony of the "3rd China Urban Public Charity Index" that was held on the first evening, Chengdu's urban public charity index was ranked in 12th place nationwide and the star ranking was directly ascended from five stars to 7 stars, raised by 63 places as compared with the ranking two years ago (2012).

Xie Ruiwu said that Chengdu would learn advanced ideologies for the development of philanthropy at home and abroad, bringing the role of "modern big philanthropy" into play in the field of social administration and public services, innovate the urban charity patterns and forge characteristic urban charity brands through this Forum, thus initiating a new round of philanthropy.
