Peter Wong Man Kong, deputy of the PRC National People’s Congress, spoke with Zhan Weike, deputy general manager of China Daily, in an interview recently. “Overseas Chinese businessmen have made great contributions to China’s economy and the world economy as a whole,” said Wong. "They deserve deeper understanding and recognition," he added.
Peter Wong Man Kong, a native of Dongguan, Guangdong province, is a renowned patriot from Hong Kong. He is an industrialist, social activist and celebrity in the industrial and commercial sectors. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He was also a deputy to the eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th National People’s Congress. He currently serves as chairman of Culture Resources Development Co, Silk Road Travel Management and North West Development and as director of Sun Hung Kai and Sino Hotels (Holdings). From the mid-1990s, he began investing in the western regions of China. He became a pioneer among Hong Kong businessmen, making huge investments in the development of west and northwest China.
